Apologies if this thread might have come a little late here. :ashamed:
SAW: The Video Game
Preview: In Saw, The Jigsaw Killer has healed Detective David Tapp (Danny Glover) from his gunshot wound, and places him in an abandoned insane asylum to teach him a lesson of life appreciation. Obsessed, Tapp traverses the asylum and gathers clues along the way in hopes of finally apprehending Jigsaw. As he progresses through the asylum, he encounters several people with past and current connections to him, whom he must save. The asylum also has inhabitants who are in games of their own. Along the way, Tapp also uncovers the origins of Jigsaw and his motives behind his tests. The development team brought in the Saw creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell to write a new storyline and create new trap designs exclusive to the game.
Platforms: PS3, X360 & Microsoft Windows.
Type: Third-person survival horror.
Game engine: UE 3.0
SAW II: Flesh & Blood
Preview: Saw II picks up right after Saw and is set between the second and third films. It features David Tapp's son, Michael, as the new protagonist as he searches for clues behind his father's death. In doing so, Michael becomes a target of the Jigsaw Killer and his mysterious apprentice Pighead. The game expands technically on the previous game, also using the Unreal Engine 3. Gameplay improvements also include the ability to use the environment to combat enemies and a robust and redone combat system based on quick timing and defensive techniques.
Platforms: PS3 & X360.
Type: Third-person survival horror.
Game engine: UE 3.0
Began SAW I yesterday, completed the first chapter and it has been a very good experience by far. The usual elements of horror are present. Level design is amazing. Voice acting is okay'ish. Traps are awesome (some of them exclusively designed for the game!) and we need to guide Tapp to get out of them successfully. Frequent encounters with the pighead, plenty of doors rigged with the shotgun etc. to name a few of the better elements in the game. The game kicks off with the infamous reverse bear trap v1.0! hyeah:
Must play for all the fans of this gore-fest franchise! Saw II was received pretty badly though.
