Now that I'm done with all of the Ratchet & Clank Future titles on the PS3, it's time to set my eyes on the one HD collection, which has been shoved aside for way too long - The Sly Collection. I swear, I was really excited about trying this title when it was first announced, but somewhere down the line, all that subsided and better things came along (as usual). I was hoping to try the first game to get a feel of it, once I'm done with Deux Ex: HR. Got a call from Gannu this morning, saying that he would be firing it up soon enough. So all the more reason to load this game up now. But this thread would be incomplete without Spacey, who I can see hop-skip-jump from a mile away, into this thread. ;)

Also, others who have tried any of it's games, you're all welcome to put in your opinions, tips, favourite characters, news, updates etc. about the game. For new comers, like moi, what are the good stuff I can except from these 3 games? How long are each of these titles? Collectibles? Difficulty?

Re: 'The Sly Trilogy' Discussion Thread!

Truth be told, i havent finished the game yet.. my snail pace is the stuff legends are made of.. :P

I got the copy procured within days of its release courtesy a good friend and have finished Part 1 and Part 2.

currently i am on part 3 and paused it for the time being.

Part 2 is the most exciting of the franchise whereas Part 1 becomes a shade repetitive+easy after about 70% completion. Part 3 is looking good and obvious upgrade is the participation of all the team members, u get to play as Murray and Bentley ofcource but a lot more than part 2. And just to make things more interesting.. Svelte carmelita is playable as well in part 3.

Part 3 story seems superb atm.

Biggest draw in the series is the clever dialogue writing and the cell shaded artwork all around. Stories/Plots are well written.

Gameplay might disappoint hardcore gun totting gamers out there but the while playing Sly 1 on ps2, I could see the main characters being substituted by the likes of characters from Ducktales/Talespin easily and hence i picked up the copy first up. The HD remastering is smooth and transition really shines. Locations from different part of the world are nicely done (although India seems to be the rendition based on old impression of a land inhabited by the wild with lots of Jungles. Grr .. But it was the best area to play as well. :P)

I wasnt planning on finishing this franchise, but damn.. this thread will force me to pick up the last chapter.

And how the hell is my obsession with this game so apparent ?? :@ :cursing:

Lil tip: Get the upgrades for Sly and the gang, they ll really boost the experience.. DO NOT ignore this point.

Play the game for the fun factor and not for the thrill.

Re: 'The Sly Trilogy' Discussion Thread!

I played Sly Cooper and the Thievous Racoonus on the PS2. My roommate had a copy. I enjoyed it a lot, especially the stealth sections. The platforming through the game has a nice difficulty ramp and feels satisfying. The enemy AI was nothing to write home about though and that made the combat a bit easy/simplistic. That also leads to the game being a bit on the shorter side (Not really a complaint. Extending the combat sections to lengthen the game would have made it tedious, not unlike Prince of Persia: Warrior Within). There were also some fun segments that had different mechanics than the platforming sections.

I usually don't collect coins/trophies in the games, so I cannot comment on that. Overall, a fun platforming game. I should get around to playing the second and third ones before the the fourth one comes out. Also, the game looked great on the PS2 , so I expect the HD versions will look amazing.

Re: 'The Sly Trilogy' Discussion Thread!

Probably the last title, before I switch to f/w 3.70. tsk tsk. :P

Got to complete 'A Crack in Time' quickly now.
