WE have, atleast i have, always wondered what it would be like to have a netbook which is comparable to good notebook.
Well Alienware(DELL) seemed to have read my mind and
they have cooked up some real nice breakfast or as we south indians call 'Tiffen':)

Alienware M11X

At 4.5 lbs(2 kg) i would not call it the lightest, but it sure looks and performs the meanest(sub 12" category).
In the website they mention it getting 6100 in 3Dmark06 ...wonder at what resolution and in what game :S...

And spec wise GT335 doesnt look bad well it does not look that good either :P.

I would not call it a netbook but eh, if i am planning to get one .. i will definitely go for this one...
Peace~

i saw the alienware and loved it--its an alienware we can consider thanx to its affordable price.

but i dont think it can run crysis at high settings.

70 k?
the website said 799$
isn't that too much?

i would rather buy a Desktop for Gaming..

coz i think Laptops no matter what specs they have, can't beat Desktops of Same Specs..

for 70k one can have core i7 desktop..

Ye, 70K sounds a bit too much since website quotes it as 799$, maybe he meant fully spec'd one?

Well obviously you are right, but what if u need mobility as well as comparable gaming performance, this is where gaming laptops jump in as the winners...

A frequent traveller, cannot carry his desktop wherever he goes for playing games...
Peace~

why would one want to game on this 11" Lappy when he can buy a 14" or 15" for about the same price??
Just to show off that he's got ALIENWARE...

i saw the website the one with the default config comes with a nvidia gt355m and an intel su4100 @ 1.3ghz with 2mb L2 and all this for 799$ -- why are they pricing it at 70 k in India--30k more than its worth?

Alienware is fancy shit, over-priced. U guys are in love hence blind! Ignore me, i am a jealous ass :baby: since i can't afford one

Though that is one of the reason , there are others too.. the 14" and 15" ones could be tad bit heavier than the 11", hence this is more portable..

Dell is propably targetting the new generation of society who like the best in smallest packages possible..

hmm.
you are right in terms of weight but in terms of screen no one would like to play games on screen such small..

It is very nicely priced at $799. But I am sure everyone knows that it is the basic configuration at that price.

Keep upgrading the hardware and the price keeps rocketing skywards.

But it has caught my eye for sure. I a seriously considering this power-pad.

Yea i kinda pretty much maxed out everything except 8gigs ram and 3 year warranty and it came to 1100$...

Peace~

if only dell could price it cheap -- i am seriously considering this machine for all my needs as my primary laptop--will buy it during diwali this year--got relatives coming from us.

Where is the link that says India price is Rs 70k? The US site says prices "starting" from USD 799 for basic config :) When I customised it to make it dual core/4GB/500GB with bluetooth module its over USD 1100/- if you add a 256GB SSD then add about 400 to the price!

I bet they will only sell preconfigured models in India with little or no customisation options...

70k is wayyy too much.

I've been planning on something between a netbook (portability) & a laptop (performance).

For about 40k, i was actually thinking of the 11x (it's an alienware :hap2: even thou Dell owns it now)

I guess I'll now have to wait for the ThinkPad x100e to hit Indian shores. Lenovo ThinkPad X100e Review

gaming will still be the primarily on my desktop.

im too am interested in an intel dual core "CULV" based or AMD Neo dual core based laptop... like MSI x340 slim, or lenovo x100 series etc... should get a good config for under Rs 30k
