I have BSNL broadband, 750 Plan. Till now I used it in Bridge mode* [i.e. I had to dial in Win 7 to connect to net]

Now I have configured it in PPPoE mode* [username & password saved in modem & itself dials & connects].

I was checking over WiFi & it got connected to router, but there was an exclamatory mark on wireless symbol on task bar. When I ran troubleshooter, I got this :

"The Wireless Connection doesn't have valid IP"

And windows couldn't fix it.

The net was working fine in my iPhone.

So to troubleshoot, I thought set it back to bridge mode & find out whats the problem is. So I connected the modem with cable & strangely the exclamatory mark was gone. And I removed the cable to test, the internet was working on WiFi.

Seems it took IP when I connected the modem ?

Now I don't know whether this problem occurs if I reboot my laptop / modem. What's the solution ? I think something wrong with OS config since it was working with iPhone.

TIA

*btw am I right about these modes ?

1. make sure your your modem goes to wan port of modem/router.

2. Make sure your dhcp is on.

3. On your PC, the wifi adapter should not have fix ip , keep it in auto-selection mode ( manage adapter->adapter properties->ipv4->auto )

now , connect.
