Looks very promising. Andriod, 1080p HD output, GPS, X-Fi, Bluetooth, multi-touch, text-to-speech. Finally Creative has come up with something good after a long time . It's a direct threat to the ipod touch unless apple includes these feature in the next gen touch.

Price too is not too bad either at $399 for the developer kit. The retail versions would supposedly cost even less.

The long list of features/specs of the zii egg really impressed me. What's nice to see is android running on it, the multi-touch display, sdhc slot, dual camera, bluetooth & wifi! For now i just have to wait for a retail version.

The 32GB version with Developer kit costs $399, I don't think that's too pricy. The retail versions are supposed to start at $199. The prices look almost the same as most 32GB PMP's in the market. A bloody iPod touch 32GB costs more than $300 and this thing does a lot more.

The only thing I didn't really like about this device is non standard low res screen. A higher res 16:9 4.5" display would have been nice.

The retail version @ 199.00 is for distributors that buy 100 or more units ;)

i think its too late for creative. Apple is waaay ahead in this.

unless the android app market really picks up, sort of like how the apple one did, its going to be very difficult.

Android application market is already started doing well.

I have started using a HTC dream mobile with Android OS, I would say, android market has applications more than you would imagine.

HTC in India has reduced the price of HTC Magic handset from 30k to 26k (available for 25.6k in chennai), which is with android OS, If you guys can not wait for the zii, try HTC android mobiles, you will fall in love with android for sure.

If the $199 price really correct then this would be a definite winner.

As gmano has said the Android market is picking up and has a nice variety of apps.

First of all iPod Touch is not a great PMP. Its more of a PDA with multimedia capabilities. The audio quality is mediocre and videos need to be converted for the device. The (screen) size is too large for it to be a compact Music player and too small for it to be a decent video player. The resolution is neither 4:3 nor 16:9. It however has the benefit of apple app store.

Zii already seems to be a better PMP except for the screen which is same as the Touch and I consider that a huge mistake on creatives part.

You get a lot better AV capabilties including HD out and consequently HD media playback. Even if Apple can include all those features, they woundn't. They would spread those features over 3~4 iterations in order to make the people buy a new revision of the Touch every year.

If Creative can keep prices competitive in the market they can make it sell as a PMP even if they do not have a huge number of apps for the platform. If they can get apps for the platform, that would just be an added benefit.
