Nice Find... But many of those Thermal Compounds tested are not available here... :(

BTW, I have used AS 5 earlier and now I am using Tuniq TX-2 and I think I get lower temps on TX-2 despite the fact that the AS 5 is priced at almost twice that of the TX-2. :S

Anyone here used AS Matrix?? How is it??

I knew there was something wrong when I noticed the AS5 ranked so low in the test.
from page 12 of that review.
It is rather surprising to see the Arctic Silver 5, which used to be a recognized leader, in this group as it is inferior even to its entry-level cousin Arctic Matrix. Perhaps its low results are due to the lack of time for “breaking in”.
The AS5 has a recommended curing time of 200 hours after which it's performance can be properly measured. If the reviewer has kept a constant 1hr curing for all the compounds, then the review is heavily biased. I did not even check for the curing time requirements of other compounds.

Another thing to note is that the test was carried out on a GPU and not a CPU. That does not make it a bad review, but I would have been more happy if they had tested using a CPU.

This is the best I have found till date. It is a bit old and the newer compounds won't be there.

Local availability has always been an issue and I remember the time when none were available and people had to source them from abroad. petrastechshop etc...

Do these thermal compounds have a expiry date? i have a almost four years old MX-2 that i am planning on using soon , can i use it?

Have never heard os a Shelf Life for Thermal Pastes as such. Just check the texture of the paste for any dryness. If it appears the way it was 4 years ago, I think it can be used safely.

But why don't you buy a new TX-2? It only costs 250 rupees or the AS Matrix that costs 200 rupees. :)
