some strange things in vga market nowadays

a good HD 4890 is same price as HD 4870 ? even at new egg

i know about supply and demand thing but this is ridicules
when it comes to the difference in performance between the 2
i mean why would anyone want to buy the 4870 from the same shop
for the same price as the 4890 ?? :rofl:
 
There can be various reasons like Brand, Quality, Size, Power Requirements.

Some cos. have more aggressive pricing. Some times you have limited time offers, & sometimes you have money back / discount vouchers.

It can go on and on and on....
 
1st of all...

there is $5 difference...

2ndly,

the HD4870 (MSi one) has heatpipe design for hsf.

performence wise HD4890 is ahead bt coolingwise that 4870 would be a lil better n thus the price difference is nt much.
 
I think the difference between a 4870 and 4890 is only of some frequencies like of memory..shader clock n etc so its much wiser to buy a 4890 at the price of 4870. But at the same time its not good to buy from some low esteem companies like powercolor and sapphire(sorry sapphire fanboys) which are giving u 4870 at 11k n 4890 at 12k (may be)
