Hi,
Does anyone know what kind of things to check while buying a cell ? e.g.

1. Manufactured In (does this make a diff whether its singapore/china/taiwan/timbuktoo)

2. Firmware (how to check this and what should it be ?)

3. Anything else ?
I have finalized on Nokia 6233 so wanted to check these things while I buy it. There are some small time shopkeepers who offered cheaper rate than Big Bazaar, so was curious to know whether they are just selling old stuff or something.

manufactured in is usually written in the backside, under the battery
best would be if u can get one made in finland...rest of them dont really matter :P

Firmware can be checked by pressing*#0000# in Nokia phones

Else you should check the warranty, scratches, handsfree and packaging..

But what should the firmware be...basically even if i see the firmware, how would i know whether its the latest one !!

doesnt really matter i think .. unless you know theres some issue with a particular firmware and you dont want a phone loaded with that particular fw. anyways most of the phones wont be having the latest FW either .. you can do it yourself or ask the care center to do it for you

just check for two thing

1 The box should be sealed, the sticker cn be easily made out to be a broken seal one, neevr accept that

2. Get the latest batch , see the month or manufacture or imported on date

One more thing to add - Imported By HAS to be Nokia if you want to be eligible for the warranty. The service centre does not entertain cell phone boxes imported by others.
