0-10K Thinking of exchanging my phone with someone on facebook marketplace.

Does anyone know if it's safe to exchange phones with people on fb marketplace? Is there any scams I need to be wary of? For reference, I'm looking to exchange my redmi note 13 with someone who has a cmf phone 1. I'm in Kolkata, so I know that scams are more common here, but still I think I might just want to try this out.

This here is the marketplace link: https://www.facebook.com/marketplac...wse_serp:eef0ba9d-ced0-4bf1-b04e-d5c6ba2e9937

Wondering what I need to watch out for or any better alternatives for me.

If you owned a CMF phone 1, would you be willing to exchange it for a redmi note 13? Ask him why he wants to exchange and not sell it specifically. Get the bills/proof of purchase and make sure the IMEI matches. Run the default diagnostics test as well.

Yeah I'm cautious too, apparently he doesn't want to run a nothing phone any longer. If we're talking price, both of them are pretty close so I don't really see why anyone would be particularly against it. He claims to have the original invoice and box too and I would run the imei through a database but I'm not even sure it would be reported stolen even if it was.

What precautions should I take here if I decide to go ahead with this?

Well, for starters, meet in a busy area, such as a metro station or mall. Take a friend with you, if possible.

Do not hand over the phone first. Check his phone thoroughly, check documentation, and after you're satisfied, hand over your phone.
