Just to close the loop, I purchased the Synology DS213 along with 2 WD RED 3TB drives. Total expense incurred=620USD. I hope it'd be worth it.

Did u directly ship from amazon?. I saw an option there. :)
Yupp. Will be getting the discs on my own but got the NAS shipped directly to India. Its was just 20USD more which is I guess reasonable enough. I wouldn't have to lug the box with me on the flight back to India.

Thought of updating the thread.

I got the product from Amazon pretty fast and I did set it up with the two WD Red 3TB drives, in RAID 1. I opted for multiple volumes on RAID and got some 2.7TB of usable space. The performance of the device is good even when I am not on a gigabit LAN. My primary usage was wireless and I am getting like 10-11MBps, which kind of tops my router capacity. HD Movies stream without any lag which solve my primary purpose. Also with the added data redundancy, I can be little less scared about my data getting lost in a whim.

This device is actually way beyond the basic NAS. I am trying to catch up with myriad of features and would be updating the thread after a while.

I spent an amount which is just shy of 40 grand and I've got just 2.7TB of space. This thing sure is quite expensive. Time will tell how much value it'd offer to me.

I do not understand why mods moved my post & made it a thread, atleast I was getting reply here ................... posted here as the OP & I had the same router.
