Thinking of switching Internet provider....

Hi guys,

For past 5 years, I've been using Local cablenet services for my internet needs. To be specific, I'm from Ghatkopar area and I've been using RajeshNet services. RajeshNet was taking net connection from Tata and recently collaborated with Hathway. Currently different area in Ghatkopar are under different smaller cable operator's administration, working for RajeshNet.

This is where the problem started. Since past 5-6 months I have been facing many issues with my connection. I ignored the increased downtime for first month as support guys said it's due to transition. But it didn't ironed out as expected. Now since past week, I'm having innumerable problems accessing few websites, downloading simple things like drivers and updates. I'm using 256kbps connection and I barely get speed over 15kbps while downloading from few websites. Many times (idiot) service guys say that it could be my routers problem :@. Well, I've done everything and anything I could do with router's configuration and it haven't solved a shit.

Well all that besides, I've finally decided to explore other options... and this is where I'm looking for inputs/advices from Ghatkopar/Chembur area users.

Opt 1

FiveNetWork - I've heard good things about them and so it's my first option.

But, when I talked to local agency who provides FNW connections in ghatkopar... they quoted me 2700rs. for 512 unlimited connection while the website states 2100rs. When asked they said that 2100 is rate for SION users only as fivenetwork directly provides net there, for Ghatkopar area it's 2700. But then 256kpbs rates were the same at 1000rs. I don't know, but the whole thing sounds rubbish to me.

Anyway, any FiveNetWork users here on TE? specifically from central mumbai area? What are your experiences, and hows downtime is like?

Opt 2

Tata Indicom Infinity - The rates are as good as they get, plus there is an option between 256kbps and 512kbps, that is 384kbps at 1400rs. Overall it all looks good. But I have no idea about Tata's service and downtime in Mumbai. My friend in pune had really sad experience with Tata and switched to Airtel after long fights with Tata guys... so I'm bit cautious. :(

So again... any Tata Infinity users here on TE? specifically from central mumbai area? What are your experiences?

Looking forward to your replies. Thanks in advance.

I had super experience with Tata all along.. Well i might be the one of the lucky few... but if they would transfer my connection to my changed address, i would still continue using it :)

Hmmm... I hope what you're saying true Dipen.

Anyway, I have about month before switching... hoping to receive more response from other users.
