Forerunner
Tikona 1 Mbps UL @ 1399

Hello guys .. :)

I'm planning to switch to Tikona 1MBPS Unlimited plan (FUL1399) in 2-3 days as im fed up with Reliance for their Great Service in my city ..

I wud be glad if anyone can tell me if Tikona implemented or going to implement any Fair Usage Policy on their plans ..

Any feedback on uploads & downloads on Torrents & Http sites from existing users from Pune wud be greatly appreciated :hap2:

Here's the link :

Tikona Digital Networks

The Plan im looking for is listed under Fun Unlimited Plans ( FUL1399)

Contention Ratio - 1:20 for Unlimited plans ! Now what does that mean ? :ashamed:

My friend has WiBro... the access point is just on the terrace of his building. So I cannot really comment on the wired broadband.

It simply means your 1MBPS line will be at the max shared by 19 more people. So when all 20 people using the broadband, the bandwidth of 1MBPS will be shared by 20 people.

Does that mean the bandwidth of 1mb/s will be divided into 20 connections ?

+1 yes same i also have 600 kbps FUL ultimate plan

but the problem the i have to disable local network at windows 7 and reconnect again 5-10 times that is wired so the connect has to connect the network stable due to wi-fi issue

while identified the network take long time to verified the net is stable ;)

and no PPOPE for wi-fi modem only u need user name and password for logging in :P

but ^ there might be small wired problem due to connection issue not stable after 10 min while your might off the modem and sign out

so the connect cannot refresh the local area network due to jam issue

honesty it is wireless technology has some problem due to signal not detect from server

but the download speed are good and website are great .. at far no issue but only not stable at network traffic while connect the modern past 5-10 min

^^ Are the download speeds consistent on torrents when downloading from private trackers ?

One more thing its a wired line & not wireless .. :)

^ so it is wireless i already apply 799 FUL 600 kbps plan 1 months ago :P

that guys already set up the access point at the top of the terrace at my apartment

and test the singal is full speed and ok

but the network traffic jam got block even 5-10 min due to log in and out issue

depend on surf and download more than 8-10 hour ;)

yes download speed are full max stable depend on your 1 mbps ultimate plan on torrent even private trackers too

even your can set up OPENDNS or any good dns at network too ;)

p.s the service is little bit ok but connect to network are not stable that is big issue

Plans looks good on paper.. Unfortunately our city don't have other than BSNL, Tata, Reliance etc. :@

I would advise you to check the signal strength with the customer care after you get your tikona connection.

Don't accept anything less than 40% signal strength because you will have problems with network stability. What this means that there will be huge packet loss which will render all real time online applications (like chat messenger) and other online applications either very slow or completely useless.

Also do a pingtest on pingtest.net to check how much is your packet loss and jitter. The result in the end will show your connection quality. Anything below B is totally useless so A & B are the only result that will help for good net experience.

As far as the speeds are concerned, i would say its really great since a 300 kbps connection would give you around 36 kbps download.

For torrents, again it would depend on number of seeders and aslo how stable your connection is so....can't say anything about that.

Also, they might wire your connection (from desktop/laptop) with the CP but that does not mean its wired connection. They provide only wireless connection (as far as i know).

If you need more help just pm me and i would be glad to help you.

Btw, i have personally used TIKONA and i am writing from my personal experience.

Also, there is a policy that if you return the connection within 15 days, they will pay you everything back (no installation, no internet charges deducted).

Call and ask them for the same.

^+1 so what did he said about his experiment :)

honesty i need to improve the grammar slower soon :ashamed:

btw my signal is show upto 80 % but the network are not stability due to not connect proper issue..

so anyway the tikona need to improve the service soon that why i am feel ok for the broadband ;)

Dude read his post. This is a wired line

Just called TIKONA cc again and confirmed the same!

They do not provide wired solution. All their plans are based on wireless technology.

Please confirm the same at your end as well.

Just got the installation done :) Here are the results guys :

& Yes its a wireless connection :(

Pingtest seems to give pretty BAD RESULTS I guess :(

UPDATE :

Here are the results when I did he test again :

These are my results,

I get 250 kBps constant on my line. Do give it a shot and let us all know how it is.

@ Vasim : Do the tests atleast 5 times. If you constantly get B then the connection is fine or else i would have something to worry about.

It seems packet loss is not an issue for you but rather high jitter. I would suggest that you get a ethernet connection between your CP and the pc that you are using....it will give you better result hopefully.
