@PoBoy

Is it available locally? If not then it would be better if you would go with Tuniq TX-2 ~ 250 bucks

i asked in the OP because reviews contradict one another. Eg : 2011 Roundup | Skinnee Labs :

Then there’s Arctic Silver 5, the most popular and most acclaimed paste on the market. And it’s basically rubbish. In no metric is it better than MX-2, on average it’s over 2C worse than MX-2 and costs twice as much. MX-2, ...

so would tim quantum be a good deal ? general opinion.

^ suppose it was available.

and tuniq tx-2 is not easily available in mumbai now, afaik.

^^ No it cannot be generalized Sire, thermal compound is a fickle issue, depends on usage and the environment of usage. That is how discrepancies creep in to reviews.

So better is word of mouth on compounds which are --

a) easily available,

b) mass usage and coverage [again depend on a)], in a particular region [in this our nation India],

So keeping this in mind it'll be better if we recommend known pastes like -- Arctic Silver 5, Tuniq TX-2, Cooler Master Thermal Fusion 400 and similar. Hope I'm not being rude, Sire.

Not at all. Let me rephrase the OP "Would you buy TIM-Consultants Quantum for Rs 200 ?".

Another thing, most people don't need 4gm, 1.6 gm seems more appropriate, right ? Once for CPU, once for GPU ...

... . I was able to get 7-8 mounts out of a single 1.6g syringe, which was I thought was impressive ... has amazingly little cure. In fact, overall, it has the least cure of any paste tested to date; only Indigo Xtreme has less observed curing. As for visual response to changes in contact, there’s some response but even with Great contact it never ‘gets out of the way’ visually ...TIM Consultants Quantum is a very interesting paste, it almost out-MX-2′s MX-2. That is, it’s available at a wide variety of sizes and prices (all of which are pretty well priced), it performs solidly (~13% better than MX-2, overall), and has very minimal cure. Strictly speaking, I think Quantum is better than MX-2 as its only comparative loss is with Great contact, the least likely real-world contact scenario. As for their estimation of 44% better than 0098, if Arctic Silver Matrix is identical to 0098 then by my measurement Quantum is ~39% better with Typical CPU Mounting and ~36% better with Overall Performance Impression (if 70C = perfect). Our numbers don’t line up exactly but neither do our test methods, surely. Anyway, color me impressed with regards to Quantum.
