Well, I've had my current configuration for almost 11 years now. Only additions/upgrades over the years were an extra 8GB of RAM taking the total to 16GB and plonking in an SSD.

So, this is what I'm looking at within the next 3-6 months:
  • What is your budget?
    • Around 50K – the lower the better, if possible.
  • What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)
    • CPU – Intel Core i5-2500 CPU @ 3.30GHz 3.60 GHz
    • Motherboard - gigabyte H67MA-UD2H-B3
    • RAM - Corsair 4×4GB 665.6 MHz.
    • Monitors – 2×DELL U2412M
    • PSU - Corsair CX400
    • Storage- 1x250GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO, Seagate 2TB HDD, WD 1TB HDD - WD10EZRX-00DC0B0
    • Case- Cooler MasterElite
  • Which hardware will you be keeping (component name - component brand and model)
    • Monitors – 2×DELL U2412M
    • Storage- 1x250GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO, Seagate 2TB HDD, WD 1TB HDD - WD10EZRX-00DC0B0
  • Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.
    • CPU – No choice
    • Motherboard – No choice
    • Ram – 16GB
  • Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component
    • Perhaps a 500GB SSD some months down the line.
  • Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)
    • New Delhi
    • Open to online purchase
  • Would you consider buying a second hand hardware from the TE market
    • No
  • What is your intended use for this PC/hardware
    • Graphics – 2D, Photoshop
    • Browsing
    • HTPC
    • Watching HD movies
  • Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them and the reason for your preference/dislike.
    • Not really
  • If you will be playing games then which type of games will you be playing?
    • Light gaming if time permits
  • What is your preferred monitor resolution for gaming and normal usage?
    1. Desktop - 1920x1200
  • Are you looking to overclock?
    • No.
  • Which OS do you intent to use with this configuration?
    • Windows 10 to 11.
Thanks in advance.

Intel i5 10400f CPU, Asus H510m-e motherboard, 8gb ddr4 corsair ram, 250gb NMVe SSD, 1 tb HDD Seagate, Asus 1030 2gb DDR5 Graphics Card, Cooler Master 450w SMPS, Cabinet, 22" IPS Panel Samsung Monitor.

Your use use case is very light. I would even go as far as saying that if rest of the hardware is working properly, you can upgrade cpu to an i7 3770 (within 3K) and call it a day. If you still want to upgrade, There is a i5 10400 in the market section. May be you can build a computer around it.
Intel core i5 10400
ASUS PRIME H470M-PLUS Intel H470 Motherboard (high end)
ASROCK H470M-HDV (low end, only 2 RAM slots, no NVME slot)
Crucial 8GB 2666Mhz RAM x 2
Use existing cabinet and power supply if working fine.
No need for NVME drive, your existing SSD is ok.
