Ditto what pun said. I don't certainly remember the names but youtube blockers permit you to whitelist your favourite subscription channels. But not sure about unblocking specific non-skippable ads

Guess its open source OS specific issue. Could you try Waterfox and see if its same issue. If yes, then its not optimized for the OS

Quite strange. It can be hardware or software related and it will be a long process of finding the culprit.

This is happening in both Ubuntu 18.04 with latest updates and Windows 7.

I am positive this is a problem of Firefox since I didn't face this frustration last year.
Don't remember from which version onward this started.
