Timtara.com CEO, Founder arrested for fraud

: He studied electronics at Jadavpur University and worked with three MNCs, but now, 47-year-old Arindam Bose has been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch for allegedly cheating more than 200 buyers on the online shopping site Timtara.com.

Bose, who quit his job as vice-president at an Indian white goods firm three years ago, had floated Timtara along with three others, including his wife. Police say the fraud so far amounts to Rs 12 lakh but complaints against the firm are still coming in. Along with Bose, a director in the company, its CEO Harish Ahluwalia has also been arrested. Ahluwalia was earlier regional sales head of a small mobile phone manufacturer.

At last what I was hoping for. Definitely deserved that. 200 seems a small number, many more may have been duped :(
 
Good to see police taking the action, but these rich buggers would get-off on technicalities and how the law works.

could be more than 2000 for sure. Nothing's going to happen to them. both these guys will go of on bail within few days and open another company. People cheated wont come to even lodge complaint or give testimonial and the case will be dropped.
 
Given the shambles our judicial system is in - either the cases will be dropped on technical grounds or the people who were cheated will be harassed and called to courts so manu times they will give up.
 
Their website is still live. It boasts of being No. 1 in user experience. Ridiculous to even think that more people are getting duped as I type this.
 
I am glad I dint buy anything from them. I had strong urge to buy ipad for my brother, and Timtara was offering the best price. Somehow it dint materialize and I decided to stall it. I feel lucky for myself and sorry for the people who got duped.
 
Just notice the typo in the thread title :eek:

Though I have to wonder why this guy turned down this path. I mean was he expecting to go off scot-free for the rest of his life?

I missed out on reading this, funny little rebuttal.

How about you honour the initial agreement jackasses. If you offered great prices, then why didn't you deliver them? And if you could've delivered, why are you recanting the discounts?

Here's what they should've said:

We tried to lure in customers with discounts which we couldn't afford, and then we turned on them. We expected to make a quick profit of the cash received from customers, while still keeping a few satisfied just in case, the other customers would just hush and complain anyway, who is there to take action. But now that we're in some serious deep shit, we are making up excuses and showing our uncompetitiveness even in our rebuttal. Thanks for the support, and keep getting shaved by shopping here.
