Titanfall - Discussion Thread

Wonder what the "recommended specs" will be.

Not that it matters considering I will be passing on it anyway thanks to EA's idiotic pricing for India...

EAs pricing change was completely due to the utter incompetence of the team behind Origin. They didn't region lock their games properly and people abused the hell out of local pricing in Origin. Now they have fixed it somewhat, but also thought it was a good idea to ignore local wages and put US prices on their games. They can go **** themselves.

Many other publishers chose not to region lock their games on Steam, and yet follow regional pricing. Others allow regional pricing but lock their games to those regions. EA is like the cancer to the game publishers that is even worse than Activision. Excuse the opinionated post but **** EA, seriously.

See my post in the Elder Scrolls Online thread if you want another laugh. Some game pubs seem to be completely clueless (or simply dont care) about the Indian gaming market. They WILL get a reality check at some point though...

Still not buying into the hype on this one. It's just COD meets Hawken and ppl are calling it the biggest thing ever.
Please wait until reviews and user feedback before you put your money down, It's EA after all.

Agreed. But the thing is I don't think there is another good multiplayer fps coming out this year - therefore the hype.

BF5 might be delayed due to all this fixing stuff. But you never know, it's EA and they are not shie about rushing things. COD, the Treyarch version is most probably coming this year.

Actually, I read somewhere EA is working with Visceral Games studio to make a spin-off kinda thing for BF4. That might be coming this year.

On: Topic - Value for money is the only concern here i guess, there is a lot of free to play stuff on the market which does what titan fall do (in essence) as good enough.
They have to set it clear how they stand apart for themselves.

I think they had an opportunity to build a fantastic SP campaign with high production values and they missed out on that. All these mechs and the future techs would have made for a great story, as well as a good intro to the series.

It also shouldn't be dismissed as "X meets Y", since every game can be classified that way. From what I have seen in the videos, it does the seamlessly moving from mech to on foot to indoors to mech again really fluidly. If it was cheaper and if I had the time to invest in another MP shooter I would definitely consider this.

If you've seen gameplay videos you should know this plays exactly like a reskinned COD, the weapon recoil and even the running animations are the same.
The Mechs handle like an oversized soldier and have no sense of weight to them like in Hawken or Mechwarrior. Plus the graphics look dated and there's zero destruction in the maps.
i'm ok with X meets Y but stop marketing it as the next big thing in gaming.

Of course it does, it was made by the COD 4 guys after they quit Infinity Ward. This will play very much like COD, an accessible pick up FPS with some mechs thrown in. It's as much the next biggest thing in gaming as is COD8, 9, 10 or 11 and is as much COD meets Hawken as Hawken is UT meets Mechwarrior. I think COD has pretty much proved that it doesn't need to be the next big thing to sell well. That's what EA cares about, selling well. It doesn't give two hoots about making a pathbreaking game.

Isn't that what i just said. I know that it's just another dudebro shooter but they're marketing it as the next big thing which it isn't.

Well that's what publishers do, build up the hype, market the game heavily towards the masses. Regardless of how run-of-the-mill it is, some part of me wants it to succeed, if only to pull COD out of that comfortable mega FPS of the year spot. COD has been resting on it's copy paste success for far too long.

MMO publishers are not dependent on Indian gaming market. If content is good I don't mind paying a sub

Why just MMO pubs, no International Pubs/Devs are dependent on the Indian gaming market. I never said they were.

My point was that the majority of Indian gamers cannot afford to pay the same price that people in the EU/US pay for games which is why they are often priced cheaper here than in those areas. Of late, this doesn't seem to be the case for a lot of games which is quite absurd considering our income levels are not the same as people in the US/EU.
