I am really confused which is the right path to take...

To buy iPad 2 from USA and import it via shopandship - or to buy in India w/ warranty??

Has anyone been there, done that?

Given the high dollar rates and 14% customs on tablets + shipping charges it doesnt make sense buying from US. Get it locally.

Btw ipads have international warranty.

If u can post pone ur purchase by 1 week or 10 days , ebay and letsbuy will start some offers for christmas and new year.

Right now only concern is that my bro will be angry with me. He has an iPad 1. He may be lurking around here already :S

As far as I know, you can claim warranty on iPads bought abroad, just like the iPods. The only problem is with iPhones.

2 days back Yebhi was selling the black iPad2 64 GB for ~29k and with 10% off discount coupon it came down to ~26k. It was a real sweet deal but it is showing sold out now.

But as I said it's sold out. Dunno how they offered it at this price but their CC confirmed it as well.

Problem with all these sites is when they dont have it they show ridiculously low price.But when its available than again its quite high.

Quick question- Can Ipads play mkv,mp4 HD videos? Also can it play FLACs? Can an android tab do anything that Ipads cannot?

not entirely true... could have been a glitch that they listed a 64GB ipad2 for the price of 16GB, But I was able to order one and they fulfilled it too.

Can do all the formats u mentioned but via a app. There is ALAC which is Apples version of FLAC.
 
It plays mkv with 3rd party player like oplayer etc.

No hardware decoding...and the battery takes a major hit.
