In Splinter Cell Double Agent, Sam Fisher's undergone a major personality change and for the first time players will get an insider's perspective to his dark past that'll probably explain why he kills without any sort of remorse. The story of DA takes place in the year 2008, a year after the events of Chaos Theory. Sam's cooling his heels in a state penitentiary, serving time for armed robbery. Players will soon learn that his imprisonment is merely a guise to infiltrate a deadly terrorist organization known only as John Brown's Army. Once he infiltrates the organization and gains their trust he'll have to perform tasks for the terrorist as well as supply valuable information to the Third Echelon (his employers); hence the name Double Agent.

Infiltrating a nexus of such magnitude isn't as simple as joining a Book Reading Club and Sam will have to prove himself to John (I'm assuming that's the leader's name) and the rest of his team that he's as cold hearted and dastardly as them. This will probably involve killing an unarmed, innocent person in cold blood (no one said this would be easy). This brings us to one of the new elements DA will offer players, the Morality System (not the actual name; just sounds cool). Throughout the game, players will continuously be faced with tasks that'll question their morals. Should they save the life of someone they love or do they save the lives of millions of innocent people? The choices players will make during the course of the game will not only affect the story but may also determine which character lives or dies.

To Sam's disposal will be his usual repertoire of athletic moves and in Double Agent he'll even get the chance to work together with allies in certain missions. These missions will play out like the (online) co-op component of Chaos Theory, only this time you'll be able to play it offline. The game will be based on a heavily tweaked version of the Chaos Theory engine, so expect top notch visuals, dynamic lighting, ultra-realistic textures et all. Missions in Double Agent will take players to various locales around the world from a state prison to Iceland to Mexico to America, where a major portion of the game would take place. To aid Sam in his quest, he'll have access to all the usual gadgets like his trademark night vision goggles and some new equipment to help him out during the brand new skydiving and scuba diving missions.

The game is to be released on all platforms including the Xbox 360 which by the way will get an exclusive additional level. PC requirements aren't known at his point, but if your rig could handle Chaos Theory, it'll be able to play this bad boy as well.
