Tool to ascertain install source of installed softwares

We install many softwares every now and then. And also download various softwares and just randomly dump on disks/partitions and also install them from those random locations.

But when we again need those setup files they are like nowhere to be found even though they are present somewhere in those random locations.

So is there any tool via which we can come to know that a particular software was installed from so and so location??

Coz I'm a bit caught in the above mentioned scenario.

how about this:

You didn't get me. I dont need the installed path but from which path I installed or ran the. exe/msi setup.
Eg: D:\softwares\hdtune.msi for installing HDtune.

I know all this is stored in registry but finding manually is a tedious pita job.

I even had a tool for this but lost it long time back.

There are programs like Revo Uninstaller Pro. I use it to to completely remove all traces of programs when I uninstall.

It installs & uninstalls programs, if you want it to, it will monitor the program ( I've not used this feature). Download the trial version & check it out.

I guess there isn't an easy solution to this.

You have to use some kind of search most probably.

And also remember to be organized from now on.

I have a huge collection of software, and I keep them neatly organized in various folders.

Well it seems currently there's no such tool to help.

But back in windows 98 and xp days I had such tool. Its interface was a mix of Add/remove programs and revo uninstaller. And it was taken from Digit tech magazine cd.

One can easily keep a track of big softwares measuring say at least 100mb. But such small tools which not even measure more than 1-2mb are difficult to keep tracked. Esp. when they are simply click and run without the need for any installation.

And in those days unfortunately my hdd failed and I lost a very important part of data which eventually contained all such tools. I still regret that moment.

Since then i've made it a habit of keeping at least my s'wares synced in 2 disks.
