Maybe its just me and the fact that I have never played an MMORPG but this looks really uninteresting. I cant imagine playing this for very long even with friends and not getting bored out of my skull.

The enemies just stand around in one place while shooting at targets far away even though people much closer are attacking them. Grenades and blaster fire only seem to hit enemies even though team mates are well within splash damage/hit radius.

Aim, point click, pause, switch weapon, aim again - rinse repeat. Then again, maybe this is how all MMORPGs play out? I wouldnt know TBH but I can clearly see why I have never been attracted to the genre.

The cinematics and the "space combat" levels were the only reason this game interested me. Hopefully someone will put all the cinematics up on youtube at some point. As for the space combat, the preview looked overly simplified and too "arcady" to really draw me in.

Then again, I didnt enjoy KOTOR (my first RPG ever) even though I played the full game from both sides. Maybe I am missing the point and its "all about the story" and not the gameplay per se? Or maybe its just me.

In any case, going by pre-launch reports, it looks like EA will be laughing all the way to the bank with this one....

RPGs and MMOs aren't for people who like twitch based gameplay.

Reading Ricky's post, it seems like he's trying too hard to find in TOR something that isn't supposed to be there.
RPGs are for people who like to think about a character design and their equipment and abilities and then let that govern how that particular character will play. And not simply where sheer twitch and aiming skills beats everything.

There is twitch and timing involved but largely it's about building up your character to become a walking artillery platform with uber rare gear. And the hunt for that rare gear is the real fun. That's why people kill the same boss again and again.

It sounds like a grind when put into words and sometimes it is. But it's also so much fun. But what it's not is an FPS which I think is what Ricky is trying to find in it.
