Yo

I dunno how many of you are aware of this neat lil app called SymTorrents, but this is one fantastic application that runs on Symbian S60 3rd and yeah 5th edition platforms :hap2:.

I've download several torrents on my phone in past few days since my board has gone for RMA. Max speeds I have seen by far are 60KB/s on 512kbps UL connection.

However there are a few drawbacks of using this for d/l'ing purposes, namely :

1. Battery goes from a full charge to being completely drained in approx 3hrs 10mins on my N81.

2. Doesn't work on trackers that accept only a handful of clients.

3. The back of the phone seems to get quite warm over prolonged downloads, and with charging the device simultaneously... It surly gets quite hot.

and no queuing of torrents

Actually I'm worried the most about the last point. I hope I don't burn something on the phone PCB.

I had first used this app quite a while back but since the release of v1.4, there are lotta new features and bug fixes.

SymTorrent | AMORG

Happy Torrenting :hap2:

Even i've used the app, Read nokias manual, it says the phone getting a bit warm on prolonged usage is not a problem..

The problem i thinks is charging the battery at temps higher than the ambient temps..

sala. no one interested in torrenting on phone?

You yourself are torrenting on the phone only because your board has gone for RMA. Otherwise, you or any other user would be torrenting on the computer itself.
Otherwise, knew about it from my 3250 days :ohyeah:

hmm guess ur right alsiladka.
recharging every 2-3 will b a pain in d ass, though its ok for occasions like my current scinario or if ur at a frnds place with 2mbps UL :P

also consider that torrenting(w/o optimizing) can be fatal to ur hdd. failure due to very frequent i/o operations. would not want that to happen to high end phones now would we?
