Thats true. Production and marketing rights for Sansui, Akai and Aiwa (Not sure about Toshiba) in India are indeed held by Videocon.
aiwa was sold off to sony and they do their after sales. I know this because i own an aiwa tv and had got it serviced from sony after sales.

As far as i know toshiba have diversified their electronics division. They have a venture with samsung for their optical drives manufacturing, some part of their electronics is being held by videocon.
This is a part of info i know.
I was just cared for the after sales part which was a valid concern. So had raised the issue.
To buy this tv or not is a personal call.

sorry to bump this up but how is this lcd ...those who bought it ? I couldn't find contrast ratio mentioned anywhere ... Planning to get this from letsbuy

It's actually pretty good if you get it for casual use.whenever I see it at vijay sales or croma I feel it's Pretty bang for the buck.

You will get decent performance about it but not great.

If you feel that you cannot increase your budget at all than go or it.

I to have the same opinion. It is decent for normal viewing. But for gaming it wont be good. Mt friend has it. He uses for X360 and it lacks, the clarity just isnt enough ( he has not tried the hdmi option though). While normal cable works pretty well. Nice clarity and picture

Have this piece hooked up with my PS3 (via hdmi)
watch movies (and how i met ur mother ;) ) every night on it
got a digicable settopbox (already had cable so no monthly bills)
am pretty happy with the setup... although ps3 isn't that crisp as it was on my dell 2208wfp...but the reason may also be the 5 meter hdmi cable i am using(ps3 is on table and tv in centre of room), vga is better

one thing guys....anyone buying this online has to contact toshiba to come and install the wall mount (for free) ..u dont need to return the desktop stand. i didnt know this and ended up buying a stand for 700 :(

@poga..

can u please post some pics for this.

Planning to get this as my Laptop secondary / PC primary monitor.

I am happy with 720p resolution. And how is the 1080p up scaling in these?
