Unfortunately flipkart does not ship to my location, so i have ordered MSI S6000-027us from ebay.in. Its configuration is core i5 460M with 4gb ddr3 and 15.6 inches led display. I got it for 26500 INR. Is it a comparable deal or not ??? Have i made a mistake ? :(

The MSI S6000 is a very good deal. Only issue is with the battery which is 4-cell one, so I suppose will be able to give only 2-2.5 hours of battery life for normal usage.

Excellent choice -- You get 2 Years of warranty with MSI.(I own an MSI laptop myself) Your laptop can be serviced by Digilink which has service centers across India for MSI and Gigabyte products and as we all know Digilink offers some of the best after sales service.

Guys, sorry to dig up an old thread, but planning on buying this lappy for my dad, he will use it for mail, internet, music, movies (rare). The config seems good, how is the service backup of Toshiba?

Edit: was planning on getting him the VAIO for 29k, its similar config, but with 2GB ram and has windows, Sony is a better brand, which one do you guys suggest?

Thanks!

Config : Intel Core i5 2410 , 3GB RAM , 500GB HDD

thanks hades, I saw that, but its a waste for my dads usage, do you really think he would require an i5? for general word processing, internet, ms outlook, and light multimedia?.. I was wondering if Toshiba has decent ASS, if so I can go for it, else Sony's brand value is definitely better.

@Rs.16850/- it is great Value for money.

This is a better deal, just installed win7 32 bit and ubuntu(pinquios) into my colleagues laptop. overall the laptop looks greatest value for money today.

The thing looked so good that another of my senior colleague ordered it right away even before I could install os.

go ahead. dual core pentium is good for day today use such as browsing and normal developement.

Get this and add another 2GB RAM yourself for ~Rs.750. More than enough for your dad's needs.

Even has a HDMI port and the build and keyboard are pretty good.

The processor is a sandy bridge pentium.

Thanks DA, but personally dont like the Lenovo brand, my fiance bought one last year, and she has already spent 4k on repairs, I dont know if this is a one off, but I am totally unsure of a Lenovo because of this, despite it being lighter than the Toshiba.

^ Toshiba build quality is pretty poor.. I arranged some 100 toshiba lappies during my college days and almost everyone had problems with hinge within an year of usage.. plastic used are pretty cheap... I would choose Asus if i had an option..\
Get second opinion though...

All the best for your purchase buddy..
