Folks,

Am getting a deal on the Toshiba 43' Rear Projection TV (TheatreCool) for Rs 24,000.

Please let me know whether I can go for it, as in, is this a good deal for the price.

I dont know how to describe that. you know when u keep the same image on a LCD screen for a long time and suddenly you change image and the shadow of old image remains for sometime or permanent. check for that problem that its not ghosting/freezing or corrupted screen whatever its called because most of the projection screen has such probs.

Well those TV's have something called a lamp-life issue, which basically means that the projector in them runs out of lamp life. I presume its running out of life already since its 18 months old.

If you can't find a replacement lamp (which is about 15k), then god help you with the TV ;)

That's for plasmas and its called image retention.

RP's are well known for poor colour reproduction and pathetic viewing angles.

its 100hz too! I'd pick it up if I could also pick up an extra lamp. 18months used the lamp prolly wont be as bright. check for availabilty and price of an extra lamp. deal sounds good.

Budget is not really fixed... After exploring LCD monitors from Viewsonic and Dell, I was almost ready to shell down the Rs 9,400 for Viewsonic 19"...but then chanced upon this deal...Now thinking that I don't really think I'll be viewing HD content..More likely that I'll be watching good old Tata Sky TV..so, most probably, I shall go for a usual CRT 29 Incher, bundled with the usual cheap home theater thingies for a total budget of about 20-25K...Whatsay?
