Another Core Duo notebook surfaces
Toshiba Japan silently released the dynabook Satellite AW5 series this past weekend. The new notebooks features a 15.4" WXGA display and use Intel's Yonah Core Duo processor. For the most part, the AW5 is nearly identical to the CW1, except the fact that it has a slightly bulkier housing and uses a GeForce Go 7600 as opposed to Xpress 200 graphics.
The AW5 has pretty much everything you'd expect a second generation Core Duo notebook to have: one ExpressCard slot, dual layer DVD recorder, card reader, four USB and a single Firewire-400 adaptor. The notebook also has Centrino WiFi (802.11a/b/g) and one Gigabit Ethernet port. The base model includes a 60GB hard drive and 512MB of DDR2 memory.
The Satellite AW5 retails for just under $1,700 USD in Japan, and is not available in the US. Toshiba's previous model, the AW4 never made it to the US, but this was likely because it was a first generation Core Duo model.
