My Toshiba A45 series stopped working. It’s behaviour was not proper over the last 3 months or so.

I used to charge the laptop by every evening and in morning battery indicator will glow amber. Moreover, the laptop shuts down whenever he watches videosfrom youtube and while doing any extra work.

It has completely stopped working from yesterday onwards.

Computer boots when power is switched on, black screens comes and then shuts down.

Is it a battery related problem?

Can I remove the battery and use the laptop by directly connecting to AC Power?

Laptop shutting down while viewing videos probably translates to overheating. How old is this laptop? Give it to a service centre and get the internals cleaned. The fan and the vents might have been clogged with dust.

Yes you can do that. Try it and post back if it boots.

Thanks. The laptop is nearly 7 years old. I tried to remove the battery but it is very tight. I will try later and update this thread.

I don't think overheating is an issue because the battery indicator light turns amber every morning.

Clear case of overheating faced same exact issue with my Toshiba as well.Got it cleaned at service center and after that till date no issues :).

What has battery light indicator got to do with overheating? :S

Get it to the service centre. If the laptop hasn't seen basic maintenance for the past 7 years, it is a miracle that it has survived until now.

Somehow i feel Toshiba Laptops have long life compared to others. My gateway died in 2 years , HP in 2.5 years .Toshiba 3+ and still going strong, waiting for it to die to get a new lappy :P

Thanks for the replies. I called the service center but they told me that they don't have pickup service. The rate is too high. The staff told me that battery costs Rs 6000/-.
