US government authorities are investigating TP link for a possible ban due to them being used the most for Chinese attacks. Below video highlights some of the issues with TP Link with a lot of buffer overflow vulnerabilities which may seem suspicious if they are deliberate backdoors. TP link has a high market presence all over the world including India. So a US ban can have serious consequences. Some of these vulnerabilities are in bootloader phase so an Open WRT install won't fix the issue.
