My laptop is a 10 year old Dell which should support b/g/n bands but since there is no wifi driver support for Windows 10, it is restricted to 'b' band only. Hence, it doesn't detect the 5ghz band at all and connection with 2.4ghz is spotty (disconnects often and has poor reception) and slower than expected (16 mbps roughly).
Router is around 12-15 metres away with 2 walls in between.

No improvement in 2.4ghz speeds. I am astonished how a 10 year old wifi card is performing better than a recent product.
I am keeping it just for 5ghz speeds, which laptop's card doesn't support. May return if even that doesn't perform well.
