Guys,
One of my sister is going to get me a monitor somehow and she'll bring it to me by train...
its a 17 inch CRT full flat and will be in the original packing.
now thing is will the Monitor size get through the Train Doors?
and will there be any problem??

Yes a 17" monitor can easily fit but if the monitor is in a box then im not sure if it will fit.

^ Pal... the box is no wider than a suitcase lying flat, hell it will even fit under a birth (mayb higher by an 1nch or 2). Quit worrying so much :)

The dimensions of the box are 20" high x 20" wide x 23" long approximately.

LMFAO

ACTUALLy it all depends on the size of the person who is taking the monitor through the door, you gotta calculate the size to weight ratio and then multiply.................

damn there was a nice formula to calculate how to take a box through the door, even the angle comes into picture. but i forgot:P:P:P:P

Just wait a sec Here ..... ! You r getting it all wrong ! First of all if u dont book one more seat for the Monitor , it wud be nearly impossible to carry it on a Long Journey without breaking it ! I am Just wondering where the hell r u thinking of keeping the Monitor annyways ! And If by chance the Train is House-full , u r gonna get into Real Trouble ! My Friend Once brought His 15' Monitor via train and he was totally F****d up ! He was lucky the Monitor remained in 1 Peice !
Now secondally I am not sure if u Know this but u will have to Buy a Pass to carry any Computer Goods ( Monitor , CPU etc etc ) on the Train ! Earlier it was Free but now they Charge some 500-600 rs for carrying any visible computer goods ! Now If u dont Buy the Pass , the TT will Totally Pwn u ! Now if u r anyways paying for a pass to carry the computer , u very well spend a couple of Hundread more and Bring the Monitor in the Luggage Boogie of the Train , hence u will be saved the trouble of carrying it all along and also the Risk of Breaking anything !

WTF IS THIS TRUE? GOOGLI :( MATE find out lol i'm tryin to find out damn i need it desperately!!!

will easily get thru the door but it may not fit under the birth...

keep it on the upper birth..and hv a horrid timesleeping beside that...or maybe get it dwn while sleeping..whos gng to run with that heavy box...

Just carry it...no big deal...

forget the pass :P

b.w why all this hassle?

Yup,its true...sadly i too didnt know it when i got my monitor via train and ended up paying 100 bucks to the TT.

Bluffy.. quit scaring him..

x86, Trust me you won't have any problems at all.
I once bought about 20 pcs of luggage including a PC, a TV, and music system (Mumbai to Raipur) these alone were 5 big boxes in all they engaged a top birth, beneath a lower birth and some under the snack tray.
The TT saw these smiled and asked me where the hell was i going to sleep, and left.

In the worst case you'll have to br*be the TT at the most Rs.100 and he'll be happy to ignore it.

Yup. they do charge you for carrying a monitor...a friend once got ripped off some 100 bucks when he did bring his system....
I'd say it depends on your luck though....and the mood of the TTE :P

Edit: He told me that the tte who charged him said that there was some rule about transporting computers in trains....i have no idea if there is a real rule or if he was simply ripped off....:S

dont worry my cousin brother had taken his whole pc+15" CRT Monitor+4 Speakers+Spike Buster+a modem & one hand bag from Kolkata to Bangalore

everything was in perfect condition & he didnt have to bribe the TT either
