A friend of mine wants to become a pro at hacking. Suggest something that starts from scratch (the very basic) and teaches enough to make own tools and new methods for advanced hacking, including advanced pro hacking languages.

What all languages and courses should be opt for, which books should he buy, where should he take his training and how much time and money will it all cost?

PS: He is >18yrs, so that is not a problem.

try starting with training packages. he will get lots of info regarding the direction he sud take. i had got 1 such series of training package from idesir.com torrent portal. if u have idesir or demonoid account try searching for relevant torrent files. u will get wealth of info. to say he wants to learn hacking is too wide a term and one sud not expect to become a hacker by learning few languages... that too in few months. its more of aptitude n less of knowledge.

p.s. if he wants to hack hotmail or yahoo account of a friend then u can ask him to forget it. :P

he is serious, he wants to make it big and proish in hacking i thnk. he is willing put any amount of time and effort.

he wants to learn pro stuff and i thnk wud like some official nice certificate/qualification as well. i can give u his no if he is interested in buying any tutorial from u. :P

^^wonderful .

ask him to start with c and c++ . and if possible assembly level language . ( i dunno where they teach that except for colleges ...

however learing to hack isnt like finishing 1 thru 10th std . if you dont have logic , it will be really dificult .

try for ethical hacking certification i heard about some institue in delhi that offers that and from the torrents u cant get learnkey hacking tutorial its easy and great way to learn, the tutorial actually consist of 5 cds, it is basically a video tutorial, a must watch for every wanna be hacker.

He wants to be a hacker,,yet he wants some paper at the end of it.

Start with some projects, finish them, then show them in your portfolio.

That itself will be worth far more than some piece of paper.

This assumes you have the required piece of paper to get in the door, in the first place. So hacking should be more of a hobby rather than the main thing.

try cissp and all certifications...but first......he want to be a pro in networking or hacking using languages???make that clear......else he has to go ccsp way

if time no bar, then tell him to goto the mountains to attain nirvana

This is not possible, networking & programming are very diverse fields, you can certainly be well informed in both, just realise when you want to get paid, you will have to pick one.

A basic computer engineering course at the bachelor level would cover both.

You can get specialised only once you know which one of the two you like. Each has a battery of tests of their own.

The mindsets of ppl in both fields is quite different, the work is different as well. If you are the introverted type then programming is better, networking is just that, meeting and working with ppl of differnt backgrounds to understand thier needs etc and then setting in place a plan that can meet them. Thats the bulk of the work, the rest is figuring out what to do and why its not working etc. I'd say networking is the more demanding of the two since you have to a good engineering background as well. Since you will be connecting together different sorts of equipment etc. Programming is more playing inside your sandbox in comparison, its more deep rather than broad.

You'd be amazed how many programmers have no clue whatsoever whats' under the PC. They don't care, the techs are there for that :D
