hello guys, yesterday bought the transcend T.Sonic 650 MP3 player from samta infotech. Before leaving the shop i checked the package for all accessories, etc and came home, charged it for sometime, transferred and listened to music, everything was OK. But

When I checked the transcend website for warranty, to my shock it states the warranty expiry period as March 2010 :S. Am I cheated ?. The bill which the dealer gave me is also not a printed TNGST bill, but a hand written bill which just bears a 4 digit number for the reference of the dealer.

For this player, is the warranty period calculated from the proof of purchase ?. Will the bill given by the dealer be considered as a valid proof of purchase ?.

Now what shall I do ?. Shall I return the product to the dealer ?. I bought it for 1.7k...

Plz reply me guys. As i have to screw that dealer in case he has cheated me...

Manufacturer's website shows the warranty details using the date and month on which the product was shipped out of factory. Valid Bill is a proof for date of Purchase, warranty starts from the date of purchase, what is shown in the website is for reference purpose only. Your warranty Period starts only from date of Purchase.

Get a valid bill from the vendor (you are always entitled and ask for the same, unless you are buying a grey market product). Service centers may not accept the warranty claim if you don not have a proper bill (without bill, you can claim warranty till the date mentioned in the website, not beyond that)

Also, you have to consider one more thing transcend players carry two years warranty, I suppose, in that case product you bought is an old stock? (as only around 5 months of warranty is remaining as per manufacturer's site). If the package contains a sticker from the importer, mentioning the date of import, then you may use it to claim warranty (in case its imported recently).
