I have a Transcend storejet 500 gb HDD, usb one.. but its showing only 248gb of space, i am running windows 7 ultimate, in linux its showing 2 partitions abt 248 gb and some 200+ gb

Since you are using Windows 7, just type 'partitions' at the search box under the menu. The first option should be 'Create and format hard disk partitions'

You can format and allocate it so that the OS can start using it. Just right click on the free space, and you should get a menu :)
i am getting two options " New simple Volume " and " Delete partition"

Create a New Simple Volume, choose the partitions format (NTFS or FAT32), use the entire remaining partition space and assign it a partition letter, and complete the process. Done. Your OS will identify this new space as a separate partition.

P.S: You can also limit the size of this volume to 100GB or so, and complete the process. The remaining space will show as free space, and you can repeat the process to create another new partition.

Thanks buddy it worked... but I don't want two partitions, just one is enough?? How to merge it??

First delete the new partition you made then right click on old partition and select extend/expand partition.... it will automatically add new partition....you are done....

^^ Try doing it in 2 separate steps. First delete the partition you have just created. It will ask for confirmation. Confirm and finish the process. Exit and again open disk management tool, and try to expand the partition. If this also doesn't work, then it's time to rely on some third party software. This one here is good and also free: Best FREE Partition Manager Freeware for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7. EASEUS free Partition Manager Software Home Edition.

installed easeus PM , but i get two partitions and no options to extend the size :-(

I think it would be better to backup data on another hdd and re-partition the entire drive according to your needs. Extending a partition isnt a good idea IMO. I havent extended any partition in my lifetime.
