Hi Guys,
My Transcend mp3 player went bad this weekend. It happened like this -
First it started turning off by itself within a minute of turning it on. This happened first occasionally and then later it became impossible to keep it on for more than few seconds. Most of the time I could make it work by pressing hard reset button.
Later, it even stopped booting properly. Got stuck after displaying Transcend logo. Reset button didn't help.
I checked Transcend's US site. There they suggested firmware upgrade with full data format for stuck-up players.
I did just that - it had firmware version 3.2 previously. I downloaded version 3.4 firmware upgrade program and followed all steps for firmware update presicely. Guess what? Upgrade failed! The error that was displayed at the end of upgrade run was something like "Unable to send SCSI command". I tried and retried firmware upgrades many times but always the same result. I tried older firmware upgrade programs but they couldn't even do mp3 player device detection.
Now I am stuck with player which is dead only except when I do a firmware upgrade. While firmware upgrade it comes alive and becomes dead again after upgrade fails.
I guess only option left now is to get it repaired. Have you heard of any Transcend Service Center in Delhi? Please let me know.
My MP3 player is around 1.5 years old. I am not sure whether repair expenses will be covered by warranty (if its still valid, not sure - I have to check). Guys, what could be the repair cost would be like? Is it worth getting it repaired or should I dump it and buy a new one?
Waiting for your replies!
