hey guys!
i have just installed ubuntu linux .... and but i m not able to access the internet through the MTNL triband connection. i have a realteck 819 lan card and it gets detected in linux and i m able to access the router config page too!!. i checked everything !! but i m not able to connect to internet using the mozilla firefox... and one more thing i m new to using linux so plz guide me.

To access the router's web configuration page you need to be on the same subnet.Have you even assigned a IP address for the card first?

If the router is serving IP addresses to client machines through DHCP then this shouldnt be a problem, but if it isnt then you need to assign a static IP first.

You can assign one by going to system config>networking (i'm not sure of the exact location so dont count me on this one)

After assigning one try accessing the router web configuration page & configure accordingly i.e DNS nameserver addresses, default gateway
