Hmm, ok sorry for that, but now that I have your attention....I am having trouble browsing the net since the last coupla days, I could ping all websites with their IPs but when I gave the domain name, I get a host not found error(the one you get when you try to browse when u havent connected to the net), so I called up the customer care guys( ISP = AirTel) and explained my problem to them, they asked me to reinstall windows(XP Pro), so I reistalled my windows( The Upgrade option, not a fresh install). ANd then I installed my modem drivers, but the dialler aint there on the desktop that shud have been created automatically when I install my modem drivers, so I tried to create a dialler manually, but the " Dial using a Modem" option cannot be highlighted and is currently in grey, the only option available is connect to internet using an always on connection(If I choose this option and continue, it says my net is already configured and ready to use :S  ) . SO, guys I need help asap, thx in advance
1- The airtel fokkers lied to you....The problem happens when the DNS server on the ISP end is down...I still cannot fathom why and how a re-install of windows would miraculously restore DNS resolution.....
2- Check control panel>system>device manager and verify that no unidentified devices are present (especially modem/network device)
2- Check >control panel>Modems to see if ur modem is installed or not (most probably it isn't installed correctly, or maybe u just installed the drivers but it's not still been detected as a modem
3- Once u have the modem on the list here, you should be able to create a new connection from Contro panel>network connection
Plz post how if this works for u
And u r a A$%&%$E for this cheap attention grabbing technique....though must admit it worked hyeah:
