Hi,
I have a Lenovo Laptop thinkpad R60 which has a display problem.Laptop LCD screen has a faint image or is very dark. at first sight, I can't see anything but if I observe carefully, I can see a very faint image. so it seems like a backlight issue.
To confirm I hooked the laptop to an external display(CRT monitor) and got the display:hap2: It runs perfectly on external display, so which means there is no video card/mobo problem.
I sent it to Ingram Micro India Limited for repair as they are auth service center for lenovo and they said whole mobo needs to be changed. and it would cost Rs. 25,087/-. I wonder why a dead mobo would still work perfectly on a External displauy? worst, as the lappy was not under warranty they charged me 750bucks for nothing(they call minimum charges).Got it back from them after paying 750buck just for touching a out of warranty machine. bloody bullshit,
Now,
If my troubleshooting is correct. the problem could be:
1) LCD lid close switch: it got stuck, that's the reason backlight Always stays off. So I need to locate this switch(its located near the hinge) and realease and see if that works
2) FL inverter board or backlight bulb is gone bad: Need to replace it new one but its very complex process, I need to take help of a trained tech which are very rare these days and sourcing these parts would also be a problem:ashamed:
Product Info:
ThinkPad R60 9457-A51
T2300E(1.66GHz), 512MB RAM, 40GB 5400rpm HD, 15in 1024x768 LCD, Intel 950, CDRW/DVD, 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, IEEE 1394, 6c Li-Ion batt
Please suggest how to proceed further
