Troublesome issue with Chrome

Hello all!

i recently formatted my laptop and reinstalled the OS (Win 7) and other softwares. reinstalled Google Chrome as well (latest version; stays on auto-update). however, since then, it has been acting weird, infrequently. some of the webpages, for example, ebay, cnet, etc., they open all garbled up, like in, just unicode-type text or HTML text, and the pages open properly only after several refreshes. many-a-times it also happens that if there are 7-8 tabs open in the browser, and i click on 'open new tab', Chrome crashes! happens sometimes even when there are no tabs open. tried to search on google forums, but found no definitive answer, even when several users have reported experiencing this issue back from 2009! strangely, this thing had happened the last time too when i had formatted my laptop/desktop (1-2 years back). i don't remember how was it resolved at that time. but i find this strange 'co-incidence', as chrome has been updated to a much higher version as well now. may be its related to some software that i've missed installing? please suggest me something on this.

thanks!

I'm having the same problem with my Chrome too. I thought it was a problem with Google Chrome itself so tried using Firefox instead but that's giving the same problem too. It can be VERY irritating when you simply have to reload Facebook and other pages every now and then.

topgear, how does one disable that particular option? I saw some link which had many steps which I felt was confusing. The only thing I know is you gotta go to "about:flags" but the rest seems to be a daunting task.

you can disable hw acceleration from settings > advanced settings option and if you can't find I'll post a screenshot. Also make sure you have the latest gpu driver or enough shared mem if using igp.

don't have such an issue with FF.[DOUBLEPOST=1374470041][/DOUBLEPOST]but now there's respite - a good news! apparently, the issue has ceased to exist on its own! if am not wrong, 1-2 years back too, the problem had faded away of its own accord, which i recall now.

My problem seems to be never ending. Topgear, could you please give me a step-by-step assistance on this? I do have the latest GPU driver. I also have an integrated GPU but I think the laptop uses the independent GPU.

install latest driver for both the igpu and discrete gpu your laptop has from the laptop manufacturers website and make sure they arecworking ok from device manager.

install latest chipset driver before installing gpu driver, set your laptop to best performance mode before launching browser.

or if your laptop has a option to disable igpu try that [ bios ] or you can manually assign with which appd, power setting / source type the discrete gpu should be used.

Btw, are facing this issue with chrome only or with every browser?
