TV from Singapore : Asian warranty : extendable?

I have read about the Asian warranty being offered by Sony/Samsung in Singapore/Bangkok etc.

Can we buy the TV in say Singapore and buy the extended warranty here back in India? Or, is this asking too much?!

Has anyone tried?
