PC Peripherals TV on PC and recording

here is my current setup on my pc
I have 2 GB ram over 300 GB of free HDD space, an AMD SEMPRON 2800 a geoforce 7300 Video card
i have a Tata Sky connection which has 2 outputs normal coax and the component outputs.
i need / want to be able to watch / record ts on the PC ... how ...what do i need and what will it cost me

bro....what if the card has an onboard encoding chip....my current tv card (7130 ph) doesnt have it...was thinking of getting a better card...

but still, the point remains that your proccy is probably near the minimum requirement many tuners.Tv tuners tend to be very demanding, especially when recording , depending on recording format. You wont need any extra hardware/s/w ... they should be bundled usually

that would be a better idea, especially if your system is a bit old ( 32 bit proccy/sempron etc ) . mpeg 1 and 2 HW encoders are there on most cards , but divx might be hard .
