I have a few queries about tv tuners. I have a dishtv stb, not a cable connection.
Looking at the tuner, i will have to connect the component out from stb to the tuner component in.
So i cannot view those 9 channel preview that's shown in the promo right?
And that means the tuner's multiple channel tuning capability is useless in a sense, right? :ashamed:

Also can i change the channel on stb from the tuner remote?

what i want is to be able to watch hd (if possible) channels on my 20inch lcd. it's native resolution is 1680x1050. Right now i have the old dishtv stb that outputs mpeg2 source through composite i think. if i subscribe to hd channels only, will i get the hd output through mpeg2 in my lcd? should be possible right? :ashamed:

Didn't understood by that "9 channel preview". You mean about that movies active ? If yes, then you can see that.

And no, you cannot change the channel by using TV tuner's remote, you'll have to use Dish TV's remote for this. Regd. last question, yes you'll be able to see HD. (But not full HD)

Ah thanks :)

9 channel preview = the previews of different channels by the tuner. This is an image i got from the avertv manual.

I guess we get this only if we use cable where all the channels are streamed together on a single copper cable.

I had visited Hauppage site and seems their remote can change channel on stb through easy link or something like that :S

^^ But why do you want this 9 channel preview ? DishTV already offers Dish Active services like Movies active, kids active, and through this you can view 6 channels.

Channels cannot be changed through TV tuner remote because all the channels come in one channel only. That means after searching for channels through tv tuner, you'll get just one channel. Now tune in to this channel and change channel through DishTV's remote. This way you can only use STB's remote and not tv tuners remote. Donno about Hauppage.
