Star Trek and Lord of the Rings

THE RELEASE lineup for the 360 might have had some holes in it, but they look to be filling in nicely.

The first game, Star Trek: Legacy, is shrouded in the fog of development, says gamespot. And the other game, The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II, presents a fundamental design difficulty. It's an RTS on a console.

Star Trek: Legacy is said to be coming out on both the Xbox 360 and PC. Until this week, it was thought that Mad Doc Software was the game's developer. However, gamespot received confirmation on Monday that Bethesda Software is indeed doing the programming.

The game has an ambitious, yet promising scope, encompassing the time line of the last four Star Trek TV series. Certainly there won't be just one main character, and who knows what type of game it's going to be, FPS, RPG?

The final uncertainty is the release date. There's a tentative launch window of early 2007.

LotR: BfME II (say that five times fast), which is well known to be coming out on PC next month, will also be playable on the Xbox 360, according to gamasutra.

The RTS is being developed by EA, and might just overcome the hurdle of trying to run an RTS with a console controller. Teh Pwnerer might call anyone who plays it a n00b, but among its designers is Louis Castle, arguably the inventor of RTS. His plan involves going back to the original strategy games and reinventing the RTS, pretending that "there never was a mouse." It's just crazy enough to work.

Well, this should be...interesting,to say the least....

Stepping steps for RTS on consoles, pehaps, it just might sell being there are not many games to buy on 360 atm :P
