twonky media startup error?

Hi all,
I have a HP dv6500 series laptop running Vista home premium 32 bit.

I am facing a problem, that whenever my laptop boots up I get an error message

"twonky media startup application has stopped working"

This delays my startup everytime.

I have tried the following

1) to find the startup application inwindows defender, but it is ot listed there
2)installed an app called "registry mechanic" but that also did'nt fix the problem.

I never knowingly installed anything reatedto twonkymedia but it might be related to some other app....
Pls, any help regarding this problem will be appreciated....

Aren't you able to find the entry for twonky media in msconfig?

Press Start >> Run >> type "msconfig" without the quotes and press enter.

Look for the tab labelled "startup" and see if you can find the twwonkymedia entry. Disable it and restart.

twonky media is a dlna media server, so it is doubtful that it installed itself as it is a pretty specific program to install. I would see if there is an uninstaller in the Control Panel Programs and Software section (can't remember what the section is called) If not try running a registry cleaner program after removing as above from the startup.

I am having a very similar problem or rather my partner is. Everytime he tries to load up his laptop an error message is shown with "Twonkymedia startup application stopped working and was closed". The screen stays black and absolutly nothing can be done.

Please help!
