Linux Ubuntu 64bit, apps not showing

Installed 64bit Ubuntu 9.04 and added the repos for medibuntu and wine but none of the applications from those repository show up in Synaptic. Even packages as Virtualbox oss dont appear when searched. What am I doing wrong?

I think my repos are cracnked up....so many fail..trying with diff one....

no success.......tried 2nd time with cn server

Do one thing. Backup the current sources.list and replace your with the output that I have provided and then try again.
 
I think the synaptic search index is broken/not updated. Any info how to update the search index in synaptic?

Tried with yours same.

EDIT: Tried sudo update-apt-xapian-index still same....index is still screwed

sudo update-apt-xapian-index -f did the trick!!!!!!

I didnt expect ubuntu to have so much bugs after using stable system so long :/
 
did you try the "main server" (just archive.ubuntu.com) in "software sources" options? maybe this is the great firewall of china at work here :D

guys its not firewall or list issue, the index was screwed up all time. Check my comment in previous post :tongue:
