I was watching a movie and few browsers were open.. All of a sudden everything disappeared :( .. Only my wallpaper was visible, nothing else.. No context menu on right click..

whats happening??

I started mozilla from a terminal, which I somehow managed to launch with a random keypress to launch a desktop search and then typed terminal and I am able to use it..

Attaching screen shot.

Are you using compiz with it? I faced serious issues with compiz enabled on my 7.10 installation. The system would freeze, there were overlay issues, etc. Finaly had to disable eye candy to get it working

The issue is probably with non responding Nautilus.. Which is a result of conflict either with video drivers or with 3D Composite Manager :) Ctrl + ALt + Back Space .. The log in will solve it :)

I do have compiz enabled.. First time I faces such an issue.. and yeah log in did solve the issue.

Hardy is less likely to have compiz + video playback issues... I don't recall properly but I also had similar video playback issues with Gutsy
