I have tried installing ubuntu 9.10 and Ubuntu ultimate 2.4, Ubuntu 2.5, every time after completing initial requirement, installation hangs. It shows error as in attached image. I am able to install Fedora, Suse on the same system, but i cant install any ubuntu distro. I was able to install ubuntu 9.10 previously but i removed it and tried to install ultimate and this problem starts.:@
I have then formatted whole system and installed vista, fedora again. Now when i start new installation again, i get the same error again. I have tried burning same DVD on diff systems but i get the same error.
Please let me know how can i get rid of this error.

What is your system specs and is it a desktop or a laptop ?

I just attached image to main post. I tried it to install on my Lappy.

My lappy is dual booting with fedora and vista now.
My Lappy Specs:-
Compaq presario
AMD 64 X2 Tl-58 1.90GHz
Ram 1GB DDR2
160GB sata hdd

check the downloaded ISO hash/MD5/SHA checksum to ensure no file corruption. if that passes then run a FULL (LOOOONG LONG LONG) memtest to see if any RAM issues crop up...

The installer encountered an error copying files to the hard disk:

[Errno 5] Input/output error

This particular error is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, or a faulty hard disk. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower speed, to clean the CD/DVD drive lens (cleaning kits are often available from electronics suppliers), to check whether the hard disk is old and in need of replacement, or to move the system to a cooler environment.

As the error message as check your install media for file corruption. or there is may be a problem with your HDD itself.

ah right, yes, also possible the HDD is bad even though other distros are installing fine.... so need to do a full HDD scan too....
