Storage Solutions Ugrent help needed ,Hard disk data gone please help

Hi guys,
The hard disk of my Dad's pc has suddenly stopped working due to power failure and he showed it to engineer and he said that it would be difficult to recover data from it
There was some important data on it of which he had not taken backup so he needs to recover the data
So guys please help me out with any way can it be done for free or nominal charges

Re: Ugrent help needed ,Hardkisk data gone please help

Give Western Digital's "Acronis" a try. I had my laptop HDD fail on me a couple of days back. It's a new laptop (IBM Thinkpad) - just 6 months old. Acronis saved my life. I was able to restore all my partitions back to a new HDD. I think Acronis is a free download, but I am not sure. My IT guys did all the restore work for me, so I don't have much details about it.

If the data is valuable then contacting professional data recovery services is your best option. Read the options below and choose accordingly.

1.
If your harddisk is being detected during bootup in BIOS then you can try some free data recovery softwares.
Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download
google for more options.

2.
As power failure caused the problem, the pcb might be affected. In this case the HDD won't be detected in the BIOS. If you are capable of changing the pcb , you need an exact same brand/model HDD which is working and try swapping the pcb. You'll probably find online videos which can help you proceed.

3.
Contact professional services. They'll charge you a minimum amount (250-500 Rs) for figuring out the problem and then give you an estimate for the actual recovery. It depends on how damaged the HDD is.

If bios is not detecting it, a casing wil not help.
If the heating is like a normal harddisk then probably the platters are spinning properly. You are actually hurting your chances of data recovery by repeatedly trying to do it on your own.

If you really want the data, do not try to recover it yourself, give it to a professional recovery guy. Pay the minimum charges for getting an estimate and decide if the data is worth it after you get the actual charges involved.

Re: Ugrent help needed ,Hardkisk data gone please help

try googling "Photorec,RIP Linux,Testdisk"

don't use Recuva, its ineffective

Re: Ugrent help needed ,Hardkisk data gone please help

dont feel bad

i had similar situations with 1 samsung & 2 maxtor disks some yrs back.

pc got shorted and lost these valuable disks with extreme imp data.

the hdds were powering & heating the ICs but were not been detectable on any grounds.

your hdd is dead too.

sorry to say but you may try other methods as mentioned bt IMO its gone.....

Re: Ugrent help needed ,Hardkisk data gone please help

Hello nit,

If there is some hardware problem then at such stage you have to see a data recovery specialist for that and if the hdd of your system is working properly then with the help of a goo data recovery software you can retrieve all your data from the hdd drive with the help of Kernel for retrieve deleted files software which efficiently and instantly recover all type of data from the hard drive. If you wanna try then check the demo version of the software, in such demo you can preview the files like docs, pics, music files, .exe's etc and then recover all of them by selecting.
