Iam on Airtel 512kbps ULTD plan. I use uTorrent to download stuff. From past ~2months,my torrent speeds have been ULTRA LOW they range between 0-12KBPS:@ :@ :@
I tried a lot to port forward my Beetel 220BX modem but when i check the port status using utorrent,it always says that the port is not open or something like that. And uTorrent displays yellow icon next to download speed saying"No incoming connections":S
But my download speed from http/ftp servers(example download.com,rapidshare etc) is very good and range in between 60-80KBPS:)

Also the upload speed is more pathetic:@ iam uploading a downloaded torrent from past 2 weeks and the share ratio is still....0.096:( Since it is a private tracker,i have to upload or else iam going to get banned.
Last night(~10hrs) i have started downloading a file from reputed torrent site with 400+ seeds but in whole ~10hrs, i managed to download........136MB at an average download speed of 6KBPS:(

This totally pi$$ed me off and hece i have decided to take your guys HELP.

Plese pull me out of this crisis guys................

Definitely some problem with port forwarding. Are you sure UnPn is enabled on your router and in utorrent? Should forward automatically if its enabled.

try using another client like azureus..they also have a plugin now which shows whether the isp is throttling bittorrent traffic....

I have port forwarded 5005 and 49000 ports, but still when i check its status in sites like utorrent or canyouseeme.org,they say it is not forwarded.

Yes Iam using KIS.That might be the problem coz b4 i used NOD32 and used to get better speeds. cant we forward port in KIS firewall?

is your router in bridged mode ? do you use a dial up connection on pc or is it always on ?

Hurray!! Got it! Kaspersky Internet Security is the CULPRIT.As soon i pause protection, the site says port is open!

But i will be running some or the other download task all the day,so i cant keep the KIS inactive all the time.Whats the solution for it?

I use the standard windows firewall and it seems to be working fine. If you want to use utorrent, i'd recommend you switch from KIS to Windows xp firewall.

port forward port no 1720 for both tcp and udp and use this port in utorrent believe me I was having the same problem in my 256 airtel connection but after using 1720 port I am getting 36 to 39KBps constant speed hope this helps you:cool2: works with kaspersky.

In the firewall settings remove the utorrent ..Now it will ask settings for connecting. Now click on any activity and allow the application to access the net
