UMG1831 Modem Issue

Since last 2 days, My UMG1831 is not working, it shows error 692, 691. It shows Hardware(modem) not responding, tested on different systems. Tested with mobile partner, Tmobile connect and even mdma.

Even it shows only EDGE connection but no HSPA signal. On linux system, it get connected to internet but disconnect within minute. I have contacted seller but he is not helping now. He asked me to send mail but still no reply from him. Is there any way to solve this issue.
 
While using external anterna, i accidently broke external antenna port on 1831.:(
I have checked modem and it is working fine but cant use external antenna now. Is there any way to repair it or it may cause any performance issues:no:
 
Hi Guys!

I am stuck with the UMG1831 modem. I got a new one today and when I inserted it first without the SIM card the drivers got installed and later when I inserted it with the SIM the blue light is blinking but it just shows detecting the device in the MDMA and also I cannot locate it in the device manager. I do see Huwaei Mobile in the disk drive section of the device manager and the micro sd card is detected. What am I doing wrong? I have tried it on both Win 7 Home Prem (SP1 not installed as yet) as well as Win XP SP3. SIM card is MTNL Mumbai.
 
^^ Did you try using the mobile partner application that must have come bundled along with that. Possibely that is old version and hence corrupt. There is an updated version of mobile partner that you should download and it will solve your issue.

No No....not MDMA...that is secondary

Do this...

1. Plug modem in PC. Drivers etc should install automatically.

2. It will also install mobile partner.

3. Fire up mobile partner and in tools -> choose device, you should see UMG1831

4. You dont see it ??? Dont worry

5. Shut off mobile partner and Go to above link to download the latest mobile partner version

6. Again follow from steps 1 and it should work.

REMEMBER....when you plug in the modem, everytime it will ask "Software already installed....Remove / Cancel" (something like this), always do a cancel here.

This is just that the mobile partner on the device is trying to install itself EVERYTIME the modem is plugged in.
 
I installed Mobile Partner from the link provided and then plugged the modem. After a long time of trying to install the drivers the installation failed and I got this

Ok, on a bit of googling I got it. It is now working on the XP machine alright. The problem with the Win7 machine was that it had VMWare installed and that was the reason for the "fake" error. Disabling VMWare should solve that as well, will try that later now. Thanks raksrules the updated Mobile Partner did solve the problem :)
 
^ Didn't need to. As raksrules suggested getting the latest Mobile Partner did the trick. Was having trouble installing drivers on the Win7 machine after that, but realized it was due to VMWare being installed on it. Uninstalled it and everything was smooth :).
 
if you got those drivers installed,why dont just use the windows dialer?I have a ZTE modem and the dialer for mac provided by reliance was crap,I just installed the drivers and used the mac dialer and it is working fine.It must be even easier with windows.
 
Dear friends, sorry for being a noob but could someone guide on how to install the modem - hUAWEI 1831 UMG for the 1st time!

I plugges the modem & followed the steps but could not connect. Now un-installed.

Im using VISTA 32 bit.
 
Hey guys, what settings to use on Mobile Partner for BSNL sim?
Like APN, Access No, Network Type, Band, etc?
The version is 11.302.09.00.03.

i also ran into a similar problem.check your sim card and see whether it has been corrupted.put it in your mobile and check.if it is corrupted get a dummy sim from bsnl
