Hi mods,

This post of mine (like all my other FS post) stop being editable after a few days. The above one is less than 2 weeks old.

Please help.

Thanks

Please report your post with the changes that you'd like to make to the title. One of us will do the needful.
Hi there, as per your suggestion I had got this changed back in October/Nov. However, I requested a title change for a newly posted thread last evening and have not seen that go through. Has this process changed by any chance? Thanks

Editing has not allowed for a while now which is good for secuirty, But sometimes typos, simplification, etc. might be required. @logistopath told me to 'report' my own post and ask mods to change the title/details, which i did and my post title got changed, ths was 4-5 months ago. When i tried to request the same change (via the mods) yesterday, my post title has not been updated. @puns is that also not allowed going forward?

Not going to happen, just keep bumping with updates. For some reason, it is considered very user-friendly to go to the end of a sale thread to check the current offer price.

Reason is abusing the system to edit prices and removing details from post that were there previosuly.

Your request for editing title wasnt due to a typo or error, it was the same products that you are selling. Hence it was rejected.
We will always fix error or bad typos in titles for which we can be approached for.

Hence, at least the price and title should be editable to convey the latest information. Not sure how editing those can be a problem if the content remains locked.

Some people edit the price to 0 after sale thereby removing transparency. Price updates can be done in bump posts.

If the buyer and seller of the deal are okay with the update after closure and the amount is recorded in bank statements or PMs, then the only thing it does is provide a reference to other sellers of the same item. That also is largely pointless since the negotiated prices are usually different and the condition of items differ from user to user.

Sellers should just price it as per their estimation and the "0" value after closure shouldn't be a concern. If it is still a concern, then split the price field between current and original price and keep the current price open for edit.

Often, sale price for 1 person starts becoming the benchmark expectations and people expect all products to be sold at that price. I may be desperate for money and may sell a product for 50% off, people then start calling it the 'Market price'. While I don't think price should be removed, I feel there could be times where this can be acceptable.

However, I do agree that the price in the main thread not being editable to reflect the current price seriously reduces the chances of sale as many people are new, lazy, etc. and may not always know that the final price is in the last post.

I think editing sale post should be allowed, but should require mod approval, and mods could reject it if they find the edits shady. maybe there should be a public history of edit that were made so people can decide on their own.

imo editing post to mark out sold items seems handy or adding extra notes/updates, also I don't see much wrong in being able to update prices. maybe it should be limited, like one edit per day or week.
